ReArt: Create, Don’t Waste
"ReArt is the art of giving new life to what others have deemed worthless. It’s about seeing beyond the surface, transforming discarded materials into something that not only catches the eye but speaks to the soul, reminding us that creativity knows no limits and nothing is ever truly wasted."
Hey there! I’m Fahima Mahbub—a self-taught mixed media artist based in England but with roots in the vibrant landscapes of Bangladesh. I create art which brings exclusivity, elegance, and allure to what was destined for landmines, focusing on creating artwork out of recycled materials and pieces of nature. From featuring in newspapers and exhibitions in Bangladesh to winning internationally in England, my art strives to break boundaries and judgements whilst advocating for the protection of our environment.
Born and raised in Rajshahi, Bangladesh, my art tells the story of nature and people. Growing up with a strong artistic drive and sense of justice, I went from creating art out of scraps to becoming an illustrator for the United Nations. Through my work I educated others about poverty, child abuse, domestic abuse, women’s rights to education, democracy and more.
Leaving Bangladesh, life was full of twists and turns, foreign lands, and unexpected challenges, but art? It stayed with me. I was no longer surrounded by fish, birds, and flowers, so instead, my artwork brought the outside world home.
My art now serves to speak to women and children going through similar struggles to me, providing them solace through art even amongst poverty. My work in England advances this cause: seeking refuge from the oppression of those around us and the devastation we inflict on the environment. My goal is to provide inspiration and artistic liberty to people by showing them that the process of creating artwork does not have to be expensive, and by bringing light to stories that are hidden under the rubble.
Transforming Waste into Wonder
I am Fahima Mahbub, an artist who transforms recycled materials into powerful expressions of creativity and storytelling. My work sheds light on narratives and emotions that are often buried or forgotten, hidden beneath the rubble of discarded items. By giving new life to these materials, I aim to inspire reflection on the beauty, resilience, and untold stories that lie beneath the surface, encouraging viewers to see value in what is often overlooked. Through my art, I hope to spark meaningful conversations and bring attention to the stories waiting to be uncovered.

The impact of Fahima’s school workshop was profound and long-lasting. Our students were captivated by her innovative approach to creating art from everyday discarded items. Months later, I still see children collecting bottle caps and cardboard for their art projects. Fahima didn’t just teach art; she instilled a sense of environmental stewardship that has permeated our entire school culture.
